Product Review: Eating Evolved Paleo & Vegan Coconut Butter Cups
One thing I really want to incorporate into this blog is product reviews. We see so many vegan products online, but it's hard to tell whether or not they're actually good. Taste is of course subjective, but I just wanted to share some more details about products for you all.
The first product I want to showcase are these Eating Evolved Coconut Butter Cups. They have the original and the salted caramel, which are actually pretty similar flavor wise. They have several other products, including chocolate bars, but some of them are non-vegan. I have been able to find these at Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and some products at Sprouts. I'm sure they also sell these online.
Macro wise, these are pretty good. The ingredients are very simple. For both cups (Because let's be real, who eats just one?) it's 240 calories, 20 grams of fat, 10 net carbs, and 4 protein. There are also 6 grams of fiber in both. Although they are a bit higher in carbs, they fit with my goals. If you were doing vegan keto, these definitely would not be ideal. I actually struggle to get my fat in at times so the 20 grams of fat are much appreciated.
Flavor wise, these are delicious. They are very rich and not too sweet (there's only 8 grams of sugar in both!). The dark chocolate on the outside tastes like traditional dark chocolate, but the inner part of the cup tastes like coconut caramel. If you don't like coconut, these would obviously not be for you as you can definitely taste it strongly. Because they are so rich and high in fat, these are very satiating as well.
Texture wise, they are pretty hard on the outside. The innermost part of each cup is a little softer. If you melted these for a second or two over heat they would probably be even better!
Cost wise, I pay $2.50 on average for each pack here in America. A little pricier than your traditional PB cup, but considering the quality and type of ingredients used, I think it's worth it.
Full disclosure, these probably aren't for everyone. My boyfriend, who is a sweets fanatic, disliked these. He stated that they were too bitter and rich for him. If you're not used to (mostly) unsweetened chocolate, you probably will not like these.
For those of us who can manage with unsweetened chocolate, I think these are a great treat option. I would not have them every day, but I still try to fit these in when I can while still keeping under 60 net carbs. If you see these in stores, I would suggest giving them a shot.
Thanks again for coming to my blog, reader. I hope you enjoyed these reviews! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see from me. The best way to contact me is through my Instagram, My Vegan Kitchn. As always, I hope you have a great day!
